Creggan Bahn has been recognised as one of the leading care homes in Scotland at a prestigious evening awards ceremony celebrating the best of the independent care home sector in Scotland.

Creggan Bahn came out on top in the Care Home Service of the Year Category at the Scottish Care Awards 2015 ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

We were honoured and delighted to be chosen as a finalist and to win the award is a wonderful accolade.

Creggan Bahn was nominated by Professor Jack Jackson, formerly Assistant Chief Inspector of Education, whose mum moved in to the care home in 2013. He said:

"The most significant strength lies in the staff. Many showed genuine love towards my mum which went well beyond what might have been expected. The owners play a key role in running such an effective care home. My mum regarded Creggan Bahn as her home and my only regret is I should have persuaded her to move there sooner."

The Scottish Care National Care Home Conference, which is now in its 16th year and is sponsored by the Bank of Scotland, has incorporated an awards ceremony for the last 11 years.

The awards have been hailed a huge success in recognising individuals, teams and companies, with more entries than ever flooding in each year from employers and employees nominating their peers and colleagues.

The awards were judged by Rob Harper (Rob Harper Associates), Professor June Andrews (Dementia Services Development Centre, Stirling) and Edith Macintosh (Care Inspectorate).

The conference, exhibition and care awards are the largest of their kind for the care home sector in Scotland.
